Underwater Photography Workshop Student Testimonials

Stefano Kaslowski:

The underwater photography workshop with masters Tim Laman and Zafer Kızılkaya have been a turning point for my passion for diving and discovery of the underworld that started with a gift of our late friend Mustafa Koc on my 40th birthday ! It was the housing and full gear for my Nikon D300.  Ever since I have self taught myself and realised how essential it is to learn by practicing with pro’s and master in this field.

Avoiding back scatter, adjusting for deep blue, selecting the background to give meaning and dimension to the object and the endless curiosity and patience to respect the marine ecosystem and catching the right moment are just a few of my take aways from my workshop last August 23’

Most of all I brought back amazing new friendships, lots of laughter, sharing and learning of the vulnerable marine ecosystem balance and a huge personal drive to positively contribute to sustainability and preservation of Raja Ampat and the spectacular sites of West Papua.

Thank you for organising more underwater photography workshops that will impact many more marine lovers in a profound way and looking forward to participating again.

Michael Sutton:

The underwater photography course at Papua Explorers Resort was terrific! The resort itself was first-class and well equipped to handle the needs of both divers and underwater photographers. Nitrox on every dive except the deepest sites! The resort’s dedicated photo room was secure and well-suited to the needs of photographers.

The instructors, Dr. Tim Laman and Zafer Kizilkaya, were first-rate. They gave us personal attention and helped us improve our photographic techniques. Each evening, we reviewed the images of the day and they suggested improvements. They fostered a steady learning process that helped us improve our image-making. Both Tim and Zafer are not only accomplished underwater photographers, but also experienced marine conservationists. It was a privilege to spend time with them, and especially to see the Red Bird of Paradise with Tim one morning.

I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their underwater photography skills in a relaxed and fun setting. In fact, I can’t wait to return for another opportunity to work with Tim, Zafer, and their students!
